Lent 4 Sunday, 15th March 2026
- Good afternoon Church
- God’s peace be with you this weekend as you glorify His name in all you do. This Sunday we are looking at John chapter 9, in this story Jesus meets a man who had been blind from birth. For his whole life he had lived in darkness, sitting by the roadside and begging. When the disciples see him, they ask a question many people have asked through the centuries: Who sinned that this man was born blind? But Jesus refuses to turn suffering into a simple equation of blame. Instead, he points to what God can do even in the middle of a broken world. Declaring, “I am the light of the world,” Jesus heals the man and gives him sight. Yet that miracle is only the beginning. As the story unfolds, the man begins to see more than just the physical world. Slowly his understanding of Jesus grows, from calling him simply “the man who healed me,” to recognising him as a prophet, and finally confessing, “Lord, I believe.” At the same time, those who believe that they can see clearly, the religious leaders, remain blind to what God is doing right in front of them. This story reminds us that Jesus does more than heal bodies. He opens hearts and minds, helping us to see God’s grace, forgiveness, and love more clearly. And through his Word and Sacraments, he continues to bring people out of darkness into his wonderful light.
